2002 Contest Rules and Guidelines

Sixth Annual Poetry Contest for Students and Teachers

To enter the contest, send the following to:

  1. Poems on any topic, of any length, and in any form can be submitted.
  2. Submit unpublished, original work only.
  3. Students send $1 for each poem entered. Teachers send $2 for each poem entered.
  4. Each poem must be accompanied by the author’s name, address, telephone number, grade level, and name of school.
  5. Poems will not be returned so please send only copies of your original work.
  6. Deadline: Entries must be postmarked no later than Friday, June 7, 2002.

Categories:

Teachers: Grades K-12
Students: Grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12

Awards:

1st Prize - $50.00
2nd Prize - $50.00
Five Honorable Mention Certificates will be awarded to students in each category.
Three Honorable Mention Certificates will be awarded to participating teachers.

  • Winning poems in each category will be published on the Potato Hill Poetry Website.
  • All poems submitted for the contest also will be considered for publication in our magazine.
  • Winners are not eligible to participate in the contest two years in a row.
